What is truSculpt iD?
In the modern world of the Kardashian-Jenner Empire, their porcelain beauty flashed on every global and minute screen, with their wannabe family members, also known as Instagram models, popping left and right to grace both online catalogues and international Fashion Week runways, and the constant mainstreaming of Hollywood’s most beautiful, there has been a large wave of sheer perfection that is permanently on display for the public to see. And with this large exposure comes an insurmountable amount of want to follow and imitate both the image and the actions of those in the limelight, in hopes that these achievements will lead them to eventually gain the fame on the same of level of those they chose to shadow and idolize.
And with the twenty-first century making a name for itself as the new era of liberation and equality, a new conversation has been opened, and has asked not to be judged. Once quite a highly-questioned industry, the plastic and cosmetic surgery market is now in the spotlight, not controversial as it once was, but now as a new way for people to improve themselves so that they may fulfil their own bodily and beauty aspirations, and then be able to accept themselves and call their new, satisfied selves, “beautiful.” In this social openness and freedom, came body positivity, and surprisingly, the want and dire need for mainstream media to put an iconic status and follow the curvy-body figure of a woman. This came with the acceptance of a woman’s curves, and to end the belief that a woman’s figure must be supermodel stick-thin to be considered beauty.
In 2017, when the height of cosmetic surgery liberation was reaching its peak, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons stated that there was a 7% increase in non-invasive fat removal procedures 2017 compared to the previous year. And so, advanced technology in cosmetic surgery has given the people the art of body sculpting. Body sculpting, or also known as body contouring, is the general phrase that refers to the plastic surgery process that is done to enhance the body to the customer’s desired shape and form, usually the addition of wider hips or more emphasized curves. Often dealing with fat reduction, there are many methods and techniques for body contouring. These procedures may either be invasive or non-invasive.
Invasive procedures, or more often known as surgical processes, are medical techniques that involve cutting into the person’s skin or inserting any major medical instruments into the body. People who consider undergoing plastic surgery are not often comfortable with the idea of actual surgical procedures, yet the most undergone and well-known procedures are those that require a person to go under the knife. The following are a few of the most famous methods of body sculpting:
- Liposuction: It is a general term for getting rid of fat in usually large areas of the body. Once very aggressive due to the nature of difficulty of this procedure, cosmetic researchers have now found a gentler, less invasive method of liposuction, especially to treat smaller, more sensitive parts of the body. Still one of the most famous and commonly chosen body sculpting procedure, the post-surgery recovery period has now been proven to be shortened as further studies on procedure betterment has advanced.
- Skin lifts: It is the overall term used for the removal of loose skin or excess fat pockets, most commonly from major weight loss, post-pregnancy skin excess, or excess or sagging skin caused by old age. The most common body parts that are considered for skin lifts are the thighs, arms, and chin and neck area.
- Fat Transfer: This procedure utilizes the fat of one body part and repositions it in another body part that is desired to be larger or be added fat, generally with the use of liposuction. A most famous example situation of fat transfer is taking fat from the buttocks and transfer it to the lips to act as temporary lip fillers.
Non-invasive procedures, or non-surgical processes, are methods in which there are no incisions made in the body, nor are there any medical instrument inserted to enhance the body’s shape.
- SculpSure: It is a non-invasive body sculpting process that uses laser heat technology to eliminate fat cells, even in the smallest parts, without damaging th unselected part of the body. It involves the use of laser heat to reduce fat cells into liquefied substances. This liquefied fat is then naturally flushed out by the body.
- CoolSculpting: It is a non-surgical procedure that makes use of very low temperatures to get rid of fat cells in chosen parts of the body. In the process, the fat cells are cooled and frozen to be destroyed, also without harming or affecting the outside skin or surrounding tissue of the selected region.
- Vanquish: It is a non-surgical process that involves radio frequency technology. The radio frequency, at a high intensity, heightens the temperature of the fat cells, causing them to be eliminated as the heat increases.
Although body sculpting can be done on almost any part of the body that is desired to be aesthetically or practically improved by a customer, there are still the most common and most recommended areas and regions of the body that have been deemed best suitable for body contouring.

With all these modern non-invasive body sculpting procedures, there have been newer, more recent discoveries in the field of aesthetic medical procedures. Cutera, a younger San Fransisco-based aesthetic product manufacturing and distribution company, has given the world of body sculpting a run for its money. This company has just released its latest innovation: the truSculpt iD.
The truSculp iD is the latest body sculpting procedure on the market. It is a procedure that utilizes monopolar radio frequency technology to get rid of fat cells. The monopolar RF technology involves using heat against the fat cells, while maintaining appropriate body temperature as the fat cells are being eliminated.
It is being considered “revolutionary,” by the medical field practitioners as it is a more personalized method of aesthetic surgery practice, as it involves a highly-powerful piece of equipment that was innovated by the company of Cutera. The machine offers a hands-free service to people who desire to undergo body sculpting.
The entire procedure causes very minimal patient discomfort, most possible due to the penetrating monopolar RF technology that has concentrated heat on the different parts of the body. Still, it is proven safe as the body and skin temperature during the whole procedure is constantly monitored, and the skin temperature is kept at a three to four degree less than the applied temperature against the fat. The procedure is able to treat numerous selected regions of the body at once, and takes an average of 15 minutes for the procedure to finish, and usually only requires one session to do the job.
On an even more positive note, there is no recovery period after the truSculpt iD procedure due to its non-invasive nature and slight-discomfort effect for the patient, in contrast to surgical body contouring procedures such as liposuctions and lifts, which take around three (3) to six (6) weeks for the patient to recover and regain their normal lifestyle and continue their everyday routines. The eliminated fat cells are then naturally excreted by the body in the following twelve (12) weeks after the procedure. The process results to an estimated 24% fat reduction, and is best recommended to be used around the stomach and flanks. The results of the procedure is permanent.
In addition, not only does truSculpt iD help a person to easily enhance their body or figure–their physical appearance, it also has advantages for the mental health, largely affecting one’s self-esteem. People, no matter their denial of having no care of their physical appearances, are still highly esteemed when seeing themselves in an unexpected physical enhancement. That is the desired result of the truSculpt iD that satisfies the customers, and its convenience to medical practitioners, especially in the plastic and cosmetic surgery department, has changed the route for the aesthetic medical market.
While it is officially safe to use and proven effective, the truSculpt iD is not suitable for use for everyone, as it seems. The truSculpt iD was not innovated as a solution for obesity, as it was made to treat several small areas simultaneously. Moreover, the people with the following conditions are not permitted to utilize the truSculpt iD:
- If a patient is in an ongoing pregnanvy. (all trimesters are included)
- If a patient’s selected body part for body sculpting has an open wound or unhealed incisions.
- If a patient wears an internal defribillator (or cardiac pacemaker).
- If a patient’s selected area for body sculpting contains a medical implant.
- If a patient has fluctuating/unstable weight.
